Skinny House

Designed in collaboration with Yoonhee Choi as part of Portland’s Living Smart Competition, this project creates a prototypical single-family house for the city’s “skinny” 25’x100’ lots that is both affordable and sustainable. Constructed of Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) and incorporating radiant floor heating, the house is configured to celebrate Portland’s abundant rainfall by capturing water in a reflecting pool on the south side of the house. Polycarbonate panels bring diffuse daylight into the garage and provide a glowing street presence at night.
