OSU Dixon Recreation Center Improvements

Utilized by thousands of students daily, Oregon State University’s Dixon Recreation Center is an essential campus resource that embodies OSU’s legacy of commitment to health and wellness. Originally constructed in 1974, the well-loved facility has undergone multiple expansions and renovations in its over 50-year history. Our project, developed in close collaboration with OSU’s Department of Recreational Sports, encompassed renovations to three areas on the first and second floors, including a new control desk at the building’s main entry. Project priorities included maximizing direct student impact and providing a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for all.

The project included creating new workspaces for Fitness + Wellness and Sport Programs on Level 1 and improvements to the Rec Sports Admin Office suite on Level 2.  To maximize flexibility and the integration of technology, the project strategically incorporated modular wall systems in all three areas.

The project also included the transformation of an existing Multipurpose Room into a new Mind-Body Studio. This space incorporates new finishes, state-of-the-art lighting and wrap-around perimeter curtains, enabling instructors to create a variety of moods and atmospheres.
