Mokara Gymnastics Academy
Located in Singapore’s Jurong Lake District, the Mokara Gymnastics Academy flagship training facility is designed to raise the bar for gymnastics in Singapore. Mokara creates a fear-free environment in the purpose-built space where athletes of all skill levels train.
The 20,000 sq ft gym is on the second floor of Perennial Business City, the largest mixed‑use business district outside the city center. Since the space is leased and the existing floor slab is structural, a raised floor system is implemented across the entire training area. Consisting of two different heights, the raised floor creates a safe and seamless design by recessing all the equipment into the floor while also solving the technical challenges of head height clearances, floor depth for equipment, and a place for routing air conditioning.

Situated near the entry to navigate existing building systems at the ceiling, the lower platform is primarily programmed for beginner athletes that have fewer equipment requirements. Proximity to the entrance also allows for sightlines between young athletes and parents, creating a sense of safety. Also included on the lower platform is a full-size Spieth Moscow spring floor.
As athletes build confidence and skill, they physically transition deeper into the gym and up to the higher platform. This added elevation provides the structural depth required for the facility’s advanced training features, including trampolines, deep foam pits for all six traditional gymnastics apparatuses, a trench bar, and the world’s largest hydraulic resi-pit. Custom spotting platforms are also included at the bar training areas to ensure the safety of athletes when practicing the most technical skills.

Strategic equipment placement and an efficient check-in and service desk facilitate multiple groups and skill levels training simultaneously. When desired, the space can also be reconfigured to host international competitions, while meeting all the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) requirements.
To balance the technical rigor of the equipment and gymnastics training, the facility’s visual identity is anchored by vibrant, large-scale murals by Brazilian artist Lelin Alves. These works of art inject energy and joy into the space, reinforcing the brand’s belief that “Joy in the Journey” is the key to elite performance.
